Singing in Anne Hurley's Christmas CD Release Concert, Saturday November 26

The snow looks as if it's here to stay! To mark the season, I (and several others) will be singing at the upcoming Christmas CD release concert by my longtime friend and occasional songwriting collaborator Anne Hurley on Saturday, November 26th, 8pm.

Anne is a very gifted composer and pianist; her music is both imaginative and accessible.

The concert will take place at Cedarview Alliance Church, 2784 Cedarview Road (just south of Fallowfied Road, Nepean). Click here for a map .

Tickets are $15 and are available at the Ottawa Folklore Centre (1111 Bank St.), Canterbury House Bookstore (97 Hinton Ave N.), Salem Bookstore (1558 Merivale Rd) or by calling 739-1259.

Attending the CD launch will also give you a timely opportunity to get your Christmas shopping done: Anne's Christmas CD, "In Bethlehem", features both original compositions and traditional songs, and is a very welcome relief from the Xmas muzak that begins to dominate our world around now.

Original tunes on the new CD include "Bellsong," for which I had the honour of writing the lyrics.Traditional Christmas songs like "The Huron Carol" and "The Little Drummer Boy" receive a refreshingly innovative yet respectful treatment at Anne's hands. Performers on the CD include myself, James Stephens, The Baobab Youth Performers, Neema Mugala (of Malaika and Cheza fame), Shelley Posen (of Finest Kind), Karen Lahaise, and many others.

Please come out on Saturday November 26 to enjoy a wonderful evening of music. For more information see www.annehurley.ca.
